Excellence Through Consistency
A stronger athlete. A more confident coach. A business with time to think again. I start with the person, understand the challenge and build a practical way forward.
High performance · Lima 2024
Behind the Australian singlet is an athlete, a coaching relationship and years of work.
I coached Archer McHugh on his journey to the 2024 World Athletics U20 Championships and travelled with him to Lima, Peru, as his personal coach.

The level of the athlete changes. The care stays the same: understand the person, identify the next priority and coach it with purpose.
Good coaching makes the next step clear. This is how I turn a sprint start into something an athlete can understand, practise and own.
Give the athlete one part to focus on and a clear task they can repeat.
Use the arms and the first steps together, with cues that make sense to the athlete.
Bring the pieces together. Watch what changes and choose what to work on next.

The Power2ADAPT approach
My calibration background taught me to observe carefully, question a reading and check what changed. In coaching, those habits help me find the next useful step for the person in front of me.
Watch how they move. Listen to what they feel. Understand their sport, training history and goals before choosing a technical priority.
Starts · Running posture · Arm action · Athlete feedbackUse appropriate video and performance testing to establish a baseline. A useful measurement helps explain the task and gives us something meaningful to revisit.
Video review · Sprint testing · Consistent test conditionsTranslate the analysis into a cue, a drill and a purposeful training progression. The athlete needs to understand what they are practising and why it matters.
Individual cues · Deliberate practice · Confidence through understandingReturn to the movement and the baseline. Combine what the athlete reports with what we can observe and measure, then adjust the program.
Review · Athlete reflection · Program adjustmentYou do not need to be a track athlete to benefit from sprint coaching. We help team sport athletes improve running technique and develop acceleration for the moments their sport demands.
Work on the first steps, acceleration and running mechanics that support leading, chasing and creating separation on the football ground.
Build purposeful acceleration and efficient running for making a run, closing down space and moving into position on the pitch.
Develop movement quality and short acceleration for the court, with coaching that recognises the space and demands of the game.
ARMS PT / EDGE10
Practical consulting, where the athletes and the measurements meet.
I worked as a consultant on this ARMS PT / EDGE10 testing day. The footage shows the testing environment and my role on the floor, alongside the athletes taking part.
It is an example of how I bring coaching experience into performance testing: clear communication, attention to the task and a practical understanding of athlete movement.
Melbourne CBD Physio
I collaborate with Nicholas Cross and Melbourne CBD Physiotherapy & Sports Medicine to connect coaching with specialist physiotherapy and biomechanical insight.
That relationship helps bring testing, clinical guidance and training conversations together around the athlete. I lead the coaching; the physiotherapy team leads clinical assessment and care.

Good coaching should travel beyond one person. I lead and develop the Power2ADAPT coaching team, helping coaches turn knowledge into purposeful sessions and practical programs.
Connect each drill to the athlete's needs and the demands of their sport. Make the intent clear, choose cues the athlete understands and know what to look for.
Start with movement fundamentals. Develop strength and control, introduce appropriate challenges and prepare athletes for competition. Each session needs a place in the bigger plan.
Help coaches and testing staff understand the procedures, equipment and organisation behind a session. Clear standards make it easier for a team to work together.
Use observation, athlete feedback and program review to decide what comes next. Coach development continues through practical questions and reflection on delivery.
For coaches, schools and sporting organisations looking to build practical coaching capability and purposeful programs.
Coaching knowledge can travel beyond a session. I turn ideas into learning resources that athletes and coaches can revisit, understand and put to work.
The ADAPT Athlete Model connects commitment, competency and confidence to a process an athlete can practise.

Commitment gives practice a foundation. Competency grows through purposeful execution. Confidence develops as athletes recognise what they can do.
Bring time, effort and a willingness to learn to each session.
Turn effort into skills through purposeful practice and feedback.
Build trust in your preparation and ownership of your progress.

Power2ADAPT programs bring athletic development into schools, helping young people build movement skills, confidence and ownership of their progress.
We make the next step understandable and give athletes something they can practise. My Athletic Journey supports that bigger picture: a development story that continues beyond a single session.

The Speed Assessment Tool brings testing and tracking into one place. Alongside it, the Coach Target Calculator turns sprint and endurance results into practical training targets.

My Athletic Journey makes the athlete's pathway visible. Movement, confidence and progress become part of a journey they can recognise and take ownership of.
AI assistants can prepare briefings, organise information and draft follow-ups. I design clear roles and handovers, with review points for the decisions that should stay with a person.

The Living Forest
This film brings my approach to life: connected systems supporting the people doing the work. It is also an example of the creative content I build with AI.
Around 25 years in instrumentation, calibration and troubleshooting shaped how I think about AI.
Before choosing a tool, get clear on the task, the information it needs and what a useful result looks like. A well-defined problem gives the build a purpose.
Calibration taught me to ask what a reading means and where uncertainty sits. With AI, I apply that habit by checking outputs against source information, expected behaviour and actual use.
Define what the system can prepare, what it can do and what needs review. Make those boundaries visible, so the person responsible can understand and control the workflow.
Document the process, keep track of changes and make it clear how to review the work. A useful workflow should be understandable after the person who built it has left.

I'm Alistair Tait, the coach behind Power2ADAPT. I bring together athlete development, coach education and the practical problem-solving habits of a calibration technician.
I build apps and workflows because I use them. I create learning resources because I coach people. Both start with understanding what someone needs to do next.
High-performance coaching is the work behind the result: individual planning, technical development, competition preparation and reviewing what an athlete needs next. My work with Archer brings that experience into the coaching relationship.
My Bachelor's Degree in Sports Coaching took four and a half years to complete. That sustained study sits alongside trackside experience, continuing coach development and collaboration with performance specialists.
I help athletes understand their movement, practise with a clear focus and carry useful changes into their training. From a school athlete's first steps to international competition, the starting point is the person.
Tell me about the athlete, the coaching challenge or the workflow you want to improve. That's where we start.
